QUALITY SERVICES DONE RIGHT
DPF Repairs
For DPFs that arrive with defects or require repairs to save the unit, we perform a thorough, case-by-case evaluation. Our technicians offer services such as flange straightening, welding cracked flanges, and bung (sensor fitting) repairs.
Repair costs are estimated individually for each unit. To streamline the process, we recommend contacting DPF Services, LLC before shipping a defective unit so we can expedite evaluation and provide accurate estimates.
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Repairs
DPFs that arrive with defects or with repairs needed to save an individual unit are evaluated first. Repairs—including straightening of flanges, welding cracked flanges, or repairing bungs—are performed by DPF Services, LLC and are estimated per unit.
Detailed Procedures
DPF Bung Repair
Repairing and replacing of sensor fittings (bungs).
- Intake & Visual Check Bung is examined for cracks, breakage, and thread damage. If cracked or broken, it is replaced.
- Thread Evaluation If threads are galled by a sensor, galled metal is removed when possible and the bung is re-tapped. If threads are damaged with no galling, a new sensor is test-fit; if it won’t turn in, the bung is re-tapped.
- Function Check & Marking All bungs are tested with a new sensor. Repaired bungs are marked “R”; replaced bungs are marked “W”.
- Repair-First Philosophy We always attempt repair before replacement. When replacement is necessary, we install our own heavy-duty bungs—more robust and durable than industry standard.
- Parts Handling All removed parts are bagged, labeled with customer identification, and returned with the filter unit.
DPF Sensor Removal
Removing sensors from the filters before cleaning.
- Pre-Soak Sensor fitting is sprayed with PB Blaster by the employee picking up the unit to allow proper penetration of threads.
- Careful Removal We attempt manual removal with proprietary tooling to minimize damage. If a sensor will not budge, the wire is cut and a pneumatic tool is used.
- Post-Removal Check A new sensor is test-fit. If it won’t turn in, the bung is re-tapped. If the sensor breaks off in the bung or cannot be removed, the bung is replaced.
- Premium Replacements Replacement bungs are our own heavy-duty design; as with bung repair, we repair first when feasible.
- Parts Handling All removed parts are bagged, labeled, and returned with the filter unit.
