Diesel Particulate Filters

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) plays a crucial role in reducing harmful emissions from diesel vehicles by capturing and storing exhaust soot—often referred to as "soot traps." However, since the DPF has a finite capacity, the trapped soot must periodically be cleared through a process called regeneration, where the filter "burns off" the buildup.

If your DPF becomes clogged or a fault develops in the system, an orange warning light will typically illuminate on your dashboard. When this happens, it’s essential to address the issue promptly to maintain your vehicle’s performance and efficiency. At DPF Services, LLC, we specialize in all aspects of diesel particulate filter and diesel oxidation catalyst maintenance. Whether you need your existing filter professionally cleaned and restored or a brand-new, direct-fit replacement, we’ve got you covered.

Our experienced technicians follow strict, industry-standard procedures to get you back on the road quickly, affordably, and without compromising the integrity of your filter or your vehicle’s performance. Let us help you keep your diesel vehicle running efficiently and reliably. Contact DPF Services LLC today!

Service Overview

Once a DPF cleaning cycle is complete, every filter undergoes a rigorous testing process to confirm that it has been restored to its optimal filtration capacity. Upon successful completion of the testing, the filter is carefully secured, packaged, and prepared for shipment or delivery. All fully restored units are delivered to your facility within 24 hours* of testing completion. Additionally, a detailed work order outlining all services performed, including filter specifications, can be provided via email, fax, or included with the shipment.

*Timing depends on condition and workload.

The Two Stages of

Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaning

Stage 1 pneumatic
STAGE 1: PNEUMATIC CLEANING
In Stage 1, the DPF receives 100 PSI bursts of air from both ends so every cell is cleaned and inspected. Bilateral, high‑pressure air removes contaminants including ash and micro‑pore inhibitors. We repeat until all ash is removed and no residual debris is visible.
Stage 2 thermal
STAGE 2: THERMAL CLEANING
DPFs are kiln‑baked up to 1,100°F to burn remaining soot and fracture ash from ceramic walls. After the bake, Stage 1 pneumatic cleaning is repeated to evacuate loosened material. Cycle duration depends on condition—typically 11–48 hours.
